 La versión original de este mítico film, es uno de los mejores recopila-torios de rock and roll que hay, eso unido a que es fácil de encontrar, y que abarca muchos estilos relacionados con los años 50 y principios de los 60, es una buena adquisición o escucha para aquellos que se inician. Contiene temas de puro rock and roll, doo wop, surf y soul. Así como artistas y formaciones representativas de este periodo ( Fats Domino, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, The Platters, Chuck Berry y un largo etc), contiene 41 cortes, lo que lo hace bastante extenso, aunque los temas son bastante conocidos y en su época fueron éxitos muy comerciales, posee también algunos temas más raros, como YA YA de Lee Dorsey por poner un ejemplo, pero lo mejor es que posee la voz del Dj que aparece en la película, mister Wolfman, y así os podéis hacer una idea de como se radiaba la música en esos años.

 Este disco fue editado en 1973 por MCA records, y aún sigue vigente lo que habla muy bien de la buena elección de las canciones que posee. Yo le tengo especial cariño, fue unos de los primeros discos que calleron en mis manos, cuando empezó a interesarme por el rock and roll , me lo dejaron en formato vinilo, y  al poco tiempo lo compre en casette, pero por el uso se volvió imposible de escuchar hará ya bastantes años, y al verlo hace poco en formato compac disk lo volví a adquirir,  a mi entender este disco no puede faltar en una colección de rock an roll que se precie.

Este recopilatorio del sello Frances Wagran music, es una extensión del the best of rock & roll ( el cual ya hable y recomendé con anterioridad ). Contiene 10 cd´s , y con 240 temas originales de  estilos de rock and roll de los años 50, lo que mejora al anterior recopilatorio, hay más artistas, pero mantiene la buena elección de temas, y sigue teniendo la misma calidad de sonido, y con un precio razonable (25 euros), es más atractivo que el anterior, por ser más extenso, es una buena elección para redescubrir o iniciarse en el rock de los años 1950.

The Best Of Rock & Roll, es un recopilatorio de los años 50, editado por el sello Frances Wagram music en 2010, este dispone de 5 cd, y 100 temas de lo más variado, con estilos que van del rhythm &  blues, rockabilly, doo wop, etc. 

Lo mejor es que tiene un  sonido increíble,cosa por desgracia que en este tipo de publicaciones no es lo normal, así que se agradece, la elección de artistas y temas ( que viene documentado con su año de aparición), es variada y  muy buena, aquí encontrareis por ejemplo el tema Chicken shack de Amos Milburn de 1949, uno de los temas que fueron percusores directos de el rock and roll, o la interesante versión de Ronnie Hawkins forty days de un tema de Chuck Berry, y el tema póstumo de Eddie Cochran Milk Cow Blues, otra curiosidad es el tema  shake, rattle and roll que aparece tres veces, interpretado por tres artistas diferentes ( Elvis, Big Joe Turner y Bill Haley), donde podéis comparar estilos ( negro y blanco, rockabilly y r&b) así como otros temas que aparecen varios artistas, haciendo del disco un documento comparativo, que lo hace más completo que otros.

De los mejores recopilatorios que e comprado, por calidad sonora y contenido, y una curiosidad aquí esta la canción donde saque el nombre del blog, go! go! go! de Roy Orbison.
